Fall 2013 Trends | Beanie Attitude

Fall 2013 Trends - Beanie Attitude

It doesn’t matter what you choose to wear it with – a beanie has shown to add a definite statement to your overall outfit. It may be a simple accessory, but after all, isn’t simplicity the hardest and most trendy statement?

Take for example the different looks worn above. A beanie doesn’t have to be for gangsters (like the south would portray). It’s creativity that counts, making you the star of what you choose.

Spring/Summer 2013 Trends - 10. Digital Prints de Nouveau

Prabal Gurung Spring/Summer 2013 bloody widow dress

Digital Prints are a subject of major concern for women. Would I look heavy? Would I look like a clown? Those are some questions many ask to themselves, restraining them from purchasing a statement item. Yes, prints are a subject you should wear with precaution. A print dress says enough, so why add more accessories? Here we present you some of dresses designers introduced for their spring/summer 2013 collection.

Designers brought digital prints to a whole different level this season. We could state to the max in what matters concern. Prabal Gurung’s bloody widow prints presented a dark atmosphere we weren’t familiar with when it came to prints. Delicate flowers dripping ink symbolized that inspiration Prabal was seeking towards. Peter Pilotto has become one of the best print designer brands in the fashion industry. Celebrities are always caught wearing one of their designs, and for spring it was obvious it would get even better. Ruffles, peplum, and fabric choice made the most ultra forward fashion piece one should have in their wardrobe. Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough at Proenza Schouler offered one of their finest digital photoprints ever. They made sure to stay at the top of the season with these images of crowd scenes detailed with colored studs and silver grommets at the hem. Is there any other designer who introduced this as well, because we can’t remember any one else? Mary Katrantzou also took the crème de la fleur (or however you say it) with her Asian inspired stamps. We thought it was an appealing play on prints. We would have wished there were some naughty prints as well. Do you have any comments on these designer prints?

Spring/Summer 2013 Trends - 9. Naughty Sheer

Emilio Pucci Spring/Summer 2013
Emilio Pucci Spring/Summer 2013

Sheer is one of the most worn fabrics around our city in the summer, but as clear and transparent as the runway, we yet to seek for one. Designers proved how naughty sheer can become if used correctly. Sheer was all about seduction, authority, and femininity for the spring collections. As you may have remembered from our past posts, spring/summer 2013 should be all about seduction. Emilio Pucci, an Italian house known for prints, presented various designs of sheer. Pants, dresses, and tops were all present in this collection. Prints, which were what we expected, were seen very rarely, as Peter Dundas decided to take an unusual route like other designers. The collection was not as bad as we thought it may have been. Franciso Costa at Calvin Klein gave us one of the most sexual collections the brand had presented. Each dress brought attention at the bust with kinky designs. The play of construction and lengths were the main elements. Stella McCartney’s athletic dresses could not have been left behind as well. Her dresses marked attitude and style. Valentino’s black sheer sleeve and lace embroidered dress below was a remarkable treasure we couldn’t let go of. Akris presented a collection that should be in the minds of several street style ladies preparing for next months fashion shows. If anyone wanted to play with sheer, Akris took the crown in their ninety-one piece collection. We have a question. Would you be willing to wear an item from the Akris spring/summer 2013 collection?

Spring/Summer 2013 Trends - 8. Double Slits are What Matter the Most

Michael Kors Spring 2013 RTW
Michael Kors Spring/Summer 2013

A slit sometimes is not enough when spring arrives. For some particular reason, women want to feel more liberal towards what they wear, but isn’t that the whole reason what spring is all about? This is the same question we ask ourselves then. Why one slit, when you can add another for more presence?

Spring/Summer 2013 Trends - 7. Asian Influence

Prada Spring 2013
Prada Spring/Summer 2013

Asian construction and prints have had a large influence for Spring/Summer 2013. If anything, attempting to dress yourself in a kimono inspired look will probably land you as the next fashionable person of the season. Prada’s Asian origami interpretation was by far one of the best for many. Prada is known as the eccentric girl who seems to appear unique and fashion forward no matter what. Miuccia knew what she was doing, mixing the 60s with an Asian spice that opened the doors to a softer Prada. Lanvin, a brand who is fit for a leading and self-assured princess, took the dark and seductive route. Dresses were all about construction and pattern rather than prints. Some ruffles decided to take a seasonal vacation here. Etro, the leaders of paisley, were all about the kimono printed top, showcasing the fashionable way of wearing the top.

Spring/Summer 2013 Trends - 6. Gladiator Heels

Versace Spring 2013
Versace Spring/Summer 2013 shoes

Have you though about what shoes to accessorize your outfit this spring? Well think no further, because the answer is quite simple. Gladiator heels were seen at very prestigious runways for Spring/Summer 2013. Altuzarra, a brand that has gotten popular over the course of the season, pleased us with their interpretation of its shoes, adding femininity and gracefulness. Versace delivered by far one of the best gladiator heels in their collection. As we know, Versace is known for being that provocative and liberal feline, which the shoes declared it all. The fringe detail and medusa stamp marked and outgoing accessory for those who adore to party. Salvatore Ferragamo decided to restrain on too much detail and focus on emphasizing structure, which crocodile had a good amount to say. Tom Ford was probably by far, the most talked designer of the moment. For those that don’t understand, his unique design of gladiator heels had a lot to talk on media. The shoes just declare authority and confidence, and by the way, they are available in black, silver, or stunning gold.

Spring/Summer 2013 Trends - 5. Exceptional Bermuda Shorts

Alexander Wang Spring 2013

Spring/Summer 2013 could not be anything without shorts. This spring think top notch Bermuda shorts. The menswear inspired trend has been greater than ever, and just about any street style girl is eager to rock the look. Alexander Wang’s shorts were no doubt in the zone, delivering those tough deconstructed shorts anyone would be willing to wear to stay at the peak of its trend. DKNY presented a modern interpretation of the denim short, resembling those of past culottes, yet making the look flow with ease.  Nicholas K, first to open New York Fashion Week as usual, gave a semi-draped feel to the camel colored shorts. Others such as Rag & Bone, remained at the top with its tender blue Bermudas fit for most ladies.

Spring/Summer 2013 Trends - 4. Stripes! Stripes! Stripes!

Marc Jacobs Spring 2013
Marc Jacobs Spring/Summer 2013

Stripes have proven to by far the most dominant factors of Spring/Summer 2013. Just about every major runway show, there has been some sort of stripes present in a collection. Let’s recall Marc Jacobs Spring/Summer2013 collection, which was full of stripes. Mr. Jacobs certainly knew how to attract us to those stripes that we’d be willing to go to prison if those white/black dresses were worn there. Michael Kors play on stripes and design gave him a new uplift to become the talk of the town (in absolute positive manners). Moschino certainly knew they had to do something to offer the best stripes in town in their own method. Stripes were put in a manner that you would be able to tell right away who you're wearing….an adventurous an blissful girl that all she needs is her lollipop.

Spring/Summer 2013 Trends - 3. Le Smoking

Saint Laurent Spring 2013
Fitted look at Saint Laurent Spring/Summer 2013

In 1966 Yves Saint Laurent introduced “le smoking,” which became a synonymous symbol for the designer and the brand itself. The sexier interpretation on menswear for women brought new codes to women’s daily lifestyle. Spring/Summer 2013 runways were full of inspirational “smokings.” Hedi Slimane new director of Saint Laurent showed one of the best luscious fitted jackets that only the house of YSL was once a legend of. Pure Saint Laurent DNA was written all over the collection, reminding us of how seductive a tuxedo can actually be for a woman. Raf Simons new director of Dior did not leave the roots of the house behind as well. He interpreted the feminine suits that were tailored so impeccably, just as Mr. Christian Dior had once done when running his brand. Stella McCartney opted to present a slouchier version of the iconic smokings, giving it a more athletic and street style kick.

Spring/Summer 2013 Trends - 2. Beloved Ruffles

Gucci Spring 2013
Gucci Spring/Summer 2013

Ruffles have proven to be the star of season for spring/summer 2013, but take in consideration that the spring ruffles should declare serenity more than drama. Some designers chose to add small layer of this design and extend them into longer waves, maintaining a classical feel. Gucci’s sophisticated ruffles proved just how luxurious an effortless dress or top could be. Peter Pilotto’s extravagant layered prints maintained the level of modernism without being too loud spoken. Givenchy’s inspired catholic roots added a purification touch that any would be willing to wear to clear their sins. Isabel Marant decided to present a classical ruffled blouse in a jolly manner.

Top 10 Fall/Winter 2012 Trends - 10. Fur of Arms

Jason Wu Fall 2012
Jason Wu Fall/Winter 2012

I cannot think of any woman who has secretly thought about how luxurious fur would look on her. I state ‘secretly,’ because I know some do ponder whether they want to or not. Fur has always been contemplated as the queen of fashion, for luxury is written all over her. This season fur has been seen on the runway of top brands in a very distinctive way. Instead of concentrating on a full fur coat, several designers decided to focus solely on the arms. I, in general appreciated how impeccable fur looks mixed with leather and other prints.

Top 10 Fall/Winter 2012 Trends - 9. Black

Calvin Klein Fall/Winter 2012

Black was probably a trend you were surprise it had not been posted yet. There are times when we wouldn’t like to mention black as a trend, for a trend is something occurring during a particular season which later fades. We would consider black to be a style statement more than a trend, but for most of the fashion world, it is described as the must have trend of the season. We can’t argue about this, because we do appreciate articles of black gemstones in our wardrobe from time to time. Don’t we?
